The Battle of The Boyne, which took place in 1690 is always an important issue in any view of the history of Ireland. It was a significant historical event and one that is still discussed and often quoted today. Sadly in my opinion, it is rather misquoted in ignorance than understood in the context of history. This article places the Battle of The Boyne in an historical context, and helps explain what actually happened, rather than what is often said in the media and by those who use the event as a sounding platform for their own specific requirements.
