Tourism in Rajasthan

Rajasthan, the land of kings, is the largest state of the Republic of India. It is one of the most sought after tourist destinations in the country. It possesses unique cultural and geographical features which have made a prominent Indian tourist destination. The state is visited by a large number of domestic and international tourists each year. Tourism in this royal and imperial Indian state provides the tourists a great experience to relish for lifetime.

The historical state of Rajasthan is renowned for its majestic forts, elegant palaces, intricately carved temples, decorated havelis and prosperous museums. Hence, the state is also sometimes described as the Land of Monuments. Jaipur is the capital and largest city of the state. City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar and Albert Hall Museum are most popular tourist attractions in the city. Due to many pink painted houses and buildings this city is also called the Pink City of India.

Jodhpur is a fortress city located at the edge of the Thar Desert. It is also called the Blue City of India due to blue homes. It is the second largest city of the state. Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhawan Palace and Jaswant Thada are main attractions to see in the city.

Udaipur, known as the Venice of India, is a romantic city in Rajasthan. It is also called the City of Lakes & Palace due to many lovely lakes and elegant palaces. City Palace, Lake Palace, Jagmandir Palace, Lake Pichola, Jagdish Temple, Monsoon Palace and Saheliyon-Ki-Bari are attractions in the city which will never fail to surprise you.

Jaisalmer, the Golden City of India, is a wonderful tourist destination to see in Rajasthan. It is famous for Golden Fort, Jain Temples, Havelis and Sam Sand Dunes.

Apart from historical cities and magnificent forts & monuments, Rajasthan tourism is also renowned for wildlife sanctuaries and national parks. The state offers ample opportunities for wildlife tourism at its wildlife reserves and parks.
